Tashi Lekmoen – Royal Wedding

Here at Khuruthang in Punakha with few other colleagues. It is warm and pleasant weather here.

The drive from Thimphu to Punakha was pleasant with a constant line of vehicles stringing along sometimes and whenever some of the vehicles like broken pearls of a necklace stirred away, a new string of pearls would join in. Many guests have already arrived here for tomorrow and many will follow tomorrow, a historic moment in our history.

Like all Bhutanese, being part of tomorrow’s historic occasion of the Royal Wedding and along with it, coronation of our Queen is a very special day in our lives. A day we will always talk about, our experience of this historic occasion and where we were and what we were doing on the day. I have heard from elders while still going to school about how they had witnessed Royal Weddings of our great Monarchs in the past. Some of them will tomorrow be taking part in more than one such historic celebration. I can only imagine the smiles on their faces, watching every single frame of this momentous occasion on the television in far flung corners in the country too.

Tomorrow the Bhutanese State will enthrone a Queen. The Bhutanese People will see continuity of their hopes in our great Monarchy. Our Beloved King has cared and continues to care for us all like a father and from tomorrow, our Queen too will share this responsibility, like a mother.

While one can continue writing many things about tomorrow, it would be incomplete if the people did not think we had any role in tomorrow’s historic moment. Tomorrow is also the day we pledge our loyalty and support to our Queen.

Signing off now, we all have a very big day tomorrow.

Wishing our Beloved King and His Royal Bride a very happy wedding!

Dasho, I too would like to join you in wishing a happy Royal Wedding and rededicate our loyalty, love and respect to the country and the people. Have a great day. Sadly, I can’t as I am not in Bhutan.

Yes, the king and new queen are indeed good looking couple. I like to know what is the elaborate necklace on his lovely bride–what is it made of?
